Pray for Christians in North Africa today

In the North African countries we have seen numbers of people who have come to the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ, professing His name today in public and risking their lives for the gospel such as being killed, being cut off from their family or losing their job. This is a sign from God who is acting in the 21st century today for the Muslim world, but through all this there has also been a negative side whereas an individual or a small group leave their faith and turn against those in the Church today, what is the purpose behind the betrayal today with believers in North Africa today.

The gospel today is the good news to all humanity and Jesus Christ who is the centre of Christianity had disciples and in one case one ended up betraying him for few pieces of silver, that person in history was Judas Iscariot. Judas Iscariot was one Jesus disciples who intension was never looking at the spiritual aspect of things but always finding a way of how he can benefit from things physically such as wealth. In the North African countries today we see the same work being made by those who today confess who Christ is but when the time comes when the storms of life get worse betrayal comes there way, the purpose of these things happening are because missionaries who travel to these certain country do an amazing work with people, where they can build them up physically but also add a spiritual aspect in what they are doing. The mistakes with some missionaries in these countries are bringing western mind set and mixing it with Christianity in these countries, but I wouldn’t talk about this too much as it is a different topic.

I was one day in the south of Morocco in a village where I was talking to a church about loving one another and keeping our faith pure as gold, and people were amazed with the teaching that was being said, and some of the people came up to me asking that what do we do when someone has left the faith and threaten our lives in what we believe in? This was a good question that was asked, because in that situation as believers we pray for those people and may God deal with them in what they have done but also why do they leave? In North Africa today poverty is a big issue and people look for anything to get material position and this doesn’t only go for North Africans but for all people in general, so North Africans look to Christ for material change in their lives but coming to Jesus is gaining life eternally and not physical position.

Leaving the faith also because of identity, Islam is the dominated religion today in the North Africa and being a Muslim is who you really are and converting is denying where one is from and some believers will reject their faith because of self-identity within their community. Jesus has promised us that He is always with us until the end of age, never leaving us no forsaking us.

Today if you are a missionary or a believer in these countries and suffer big amount of persecution do not lose faith, in the darkest hour of life that is where God really is. North Africa is being transformed today where no one is seeing but the North Africans themselves.

Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me; your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me, “even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. Psalm 139:1-8
