What is the cost converting to Christ?

What is the cost converting to Christ?

During this year and the past years we have witnessed major persecution within the Maghreb which means the “North African countries”, such as Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and parts of Libya. What we have witnessed in the past was the killing of the young Tunisian man who was killed for his faith by Islamists who are part of the Salafists movement. Also another story of three Moroccans arrested for their faith in Morocco and many others that are also happening in Egypt, Libya, Syria, Mauritania and Algeria.

I had the privilege to sit in a coffee shop in Morocco to talk with a guy in what happened during the arrest in Morocco. It happened in the city of Kenitra; a city in Morocco where three guys were talking about their faith in a coffee shop until police officers arrived and took them away sentenced them into prison. This man told me it is difficult to live as a Christian in Morocco today because of the amount of persecution that people are inflicting on this minority, but talking with him I saw there was still in the country of Morocco a growth of Christians happening.

Jesus said let your light shine and they will glorify your heavenly Father who is in heaven. This is our witness in these countries where God is moving. As Salafism grows within the Arab world, Christianity is still growing rapidly and moving and touching the lives of believers where they are crying out for help. In history at one point North Africa was once the centre of Christianity whereby it was the gate way to Europe, seeing Islamists taking over the country what we all must remember is that North Africa was at one point where we got ancient church fathers who stood for their faith regardless in what will happen to them, for example Tertullian who was a prolific writer of apologetic, theological, controversial and ascetic works, who lived in modern day Algeria and also St Augustine of Hippo again a who lived in Algeria. In North Africa today people are giving their lives for Christ because of the sake of truth of the Gospel.

What this young man in Tunisia demonstrated few days ago with his witness to not deny faith shows how we should live for the sake of Christ. Tunisia is a nation where it is changing where people are starting to understand that it is not political change that a person will change but it is the encounter with the Saviour who will transforms one live.

Day by day as I speak to people about their circumstances in these countries, it reveals to me the wonders that God is moving within people, when the doors are fully closed to share yet God comes in and reveals truth within the darkest areas of live. Jesus said that He is with us even until the end of ages.

Today help those people who don’t have the opportunity to hear the gospel, it is through our faith God brings His glory into others, and also it us by standing for the truth like the young Tunisian man demonstrated that teaches us why we believe in Christ today.

I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. (Revelation 20:4)
